The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation, established in 1977 to protect and preserve the architectural, cultural and landscape heritage of our city, recently welcomed three new members to its Board of Directors.

Jaime Butler-Binley is the owner and president of Brand 21, a brand and marketing consultancy located on Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs that emphasizes results-driven brand experiences for its clients.  With a BFA from Syracuse University in Advertising and Communication Design, Jaime’s career began in New York City where she developed award-winning campaigns for several top agencies.  Early to embrace the digital world, Jaime returned to her hometown of Saratoga Springs where she was Group Creative Supervisor for Palio Communications before founding her own business B-Squared Integrated Marketing.  In 2008 she co-founded Fingerpaint Marketing where she served as Global Creative Director, fostering the firm’s “Create Something Original” philosophy.  While there, Fingerpaint’s creative workforce grew to 90+ people and over $20 million in billings.  With an extensive and diverse portfolio of clients that includes American Express, Ann Taylor, BMW, Canon, L’Oreal, and Emma Willard School, Jaime looks forward to lending her strategic development and creative planning talents to the Foundation’s preservation efforts.

Stephen Kyne is the owner of Sterling Manor Financial, an independent financial planning and investment advisory firm with offices in downtown Saratoga Springs and Rhinebeck.  A graduate of SUNY Albany, Stephen holds a Certificate in Financial Planning from New York University as well as several related licenses in the financial planning and insurance industries.  Prior to establishing his own firm in 2006, Stephen worked for American Express Financial Advisors.  A frequent contributor to local newspapers on financial planning-related topics, Stephen’s commitment to community service goes back to his involvement with the AmeriCorps NCCC and VISTA programs and continues today as a board member of several non-profit organizations, including Saratoga Springs Rotary and its Education Foundation, Boy Scouts of America’s Camp Wakpominee Alumni Association, and Friends of Camp Little Notch.  A native of Saratoga Springs, Stephen believes to maintain our community’s unique character it is necessary to balance progress and preservation.

Bill McCarthy Jr. is Senior Vice-President of Bolton St. Johns, a government relations and public affairs firm with offices in Albany and Buffalo.  A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Law School, prior to joining Bolton St. Johns Bill worked as Counsel and Policy Advisor for the New York State Senate and as Assistant NYS Attorney General.  In this latter position, Bill represented the State of New York in both state and federal courts defending claims of violations of constitutional rights, Article 78 proceedings, and other litigation.  Before joining the lobbying team at Bolton St. Johns, most recently Bill served as Assistant General Counsel for the New York Racing Association where he managed relationships with legislators, the New York State Gaming Commission, and other state offices, including the executive branch, on horse racing-related issues and matters of interest to NYRA.  He played an important role in the multi-year effort to ensure accountability and transparency of New York’s horse racing industry and assisted with the re-privatization of NYRA.

The Foundation looks forward to applying the special skills and diverse backgrounds of Jaime, Stephen, and Bill to the preservation of Saratoga’s heritage.
