On Wednesday, June 19, 2024 the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation celebrated the completion of the 1851 Alexander A. Patterson House at 65 Phila Street during a community block party on Phila Street between Henry Street and Circular Street.
The extremely hot weather did not deter neighbors, supporters, and friends from joining the Foundation’s staff and Board of Directors. The Block Party was a true community effort with beverages generously donated by Saratoga Eagle, Bocage Champagne Bar, Harvey’s Restaurant & Bar, and Mittler’s as well as food donated by Osteria Danny, Hattie’s Restaurants, Solevo, and Sushi Thai & Phila Fusion.
Cassandra Kubinski and Sam Zucchini performed live from the porch of 65 Phila Street, including a moving sing-along of “Our House” by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young which was requested by the homeowners of 69 Phila Street.
Two former Executive Directors of the Foundation, Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner and Julie Stokes, were able to join current Executive Director, Samantha Bosshart, at the joyous event. The building at 65 Phila Street, along with its neighbor at 69 Phila Street, had been on the Foundation’s endangered list for over two decades, but today they are phinally preserved and no longer threatened with demolition.
We appreciate the support of the City of Saratoga Springs and the Saratoga Springs Police Department for helping the Foundation with the logistics of the block party and the patience of the neighbors throughout the entire construction process and event. The Foundation was thrilled to be able to celebrate the completion of the exterior rehabilitation of 65 Phila Street. As a result of the community’s support, the long-endangered building that was a drain on city resources and caused neighborhood blight was preserved! Soon the house will be sold to someone who will complete the interior of the home and be a good steward for years to come. Net proceeds from the sale of 65 Phila Street will go towards a future preservation project. CLICK HERE to view the listing!
In addition, the Foundation celebrated the completion of 69 Phila Street, the 1851 Reverend Hawley House. Thank you again to the owners who made a significant investment to preserve the house.
We greatly appreciated everyone who joined us last week and thank you to those who have supported the Revive 65 Campaign over the last three years!
