Call for Artists — Juried TRASK Art Show & Sale Offering Cash Prize
Saratoga Springs, NY: The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation seeks artists inspired by the spirit of Saratoga Springs in all mediums to present and sell their work at the 5th Annual TRASK Art Show & Sale on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 6:30PM—9:30PM at the historic Canfield Casino in Congress Park, Saratoga Springs, NY.
“This extremely popular art auction, which attracts more than 300 guests, helps to underwrite the mission of the Foundation to preserve, protect and promote the architectural, cultural, and landscaped heritage of Saratoga Springs. Proceeds of the TRASK Art Show & Sale provide critical support for the Foundation’s efforts, such as the recent successful completion of the restoration of the Spirit of Life & Spencer Trask Memorial,” said Samantha Bosshart, Executive Director of the Foundation.
This year the Foundation is thrilled to announce that Ian Berry, Director of the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College and Kathy Greenwood, Director of the Art & Culture Program at Albany International Airport will serve as the Show’s judges. A prize of $500 for Best in Show will be offered courtesy of the Adelphi Hotel.
Submitted artwork should interpret the spirit of life in Saratoga Springs and reflect the history, architecture, landscape, culture, preservation, philanthropy and generally the spirit of Saratoga Springs. Interpretations can be literal or abstract. Entries are selected based on technical merit, aesthetic quality, creativity, and how well the artist interprets the theme. Judging will take place prior to the event reception and will be based on actual artwork, not digital images or slides.
Artists are allowed to submit up to three works in any medium with a $25 artist entry fee. Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, September 13, 2016. The selected pieces of work must be brought to the Canfield Casino on Wednesday, September 28th between 10AM and 5PM. Visit www.saratogapreservation.org/trask to view the Artist Prospectus and to submit artwork
All submitted artwork must be available to be sold as part of the fundraiser. Artists receive one ticket to the event and 50% of their artwork’s sale price. The remaining sales directly benefit restoration projects and ongoing efforts to preserve Saratoga Springs.
Tickets to the one-night-only silent auction and reception on Thursday, September 29, 2016 are $55 for SSPF members and $65 for non-members. To purchase tickets please visit www.saratogapreservation.org or call (518) 587-5030.
